I’m 4 Months Old Now

Nikita - 4 Months Old

Hi Everyone!  It’s me, Nikita!  Guess what? I’m 4 months old as of yesterday and getting bigger & smarter every day!   I spent the day yesterday learning some new tricks and boy oh boy can I learn fast!  My newest trick I learned is really cool, when either Mommy or Daddy snap their fingers together, I jump straight up in the air & of course, get a treat for doing so!  They don’t even have to say anything either, just snap their fingers and I jump! How cool is that and I learned this in 10 minutes.  I also learned how to “beg”, but I am still in the process of perfecting this one.  I am a little shaky on sitting on my hind legs, but with a little help, I will get this one.

Daddy also taught me another trick – whenever he opens this little jar of my

With this jar of treats, I run into my cage

puppy treats, I run right into my cage and wait for him to give me the treat.  I only do this trick for “this jar only”.  When I see Mommy or Daddy getting me a treat from any other jar, I just sit and wait to see what they are going to ask me to do, and I don’t run into my cage.  Daddy keeps saying that I am a smart puppy, I think so too!

I also know how to “sit”, “shake”, and “down” all on command, and can even do these without treats too, but treats are much appreciated.  I am working on the “stay” thing, but I get so excited about getting a treat, that sometimes I just run over to get my treat and forget to “stay”.  LOL

I’ve been at my new home now with Mommy & Daddy for two months now, and I can’t believe how time flies.  I feel like I have been here all along, and part of the family.  I am so loved and cared for and since Thanksgiving is coming up next week, I want to say how thankful I am that I was adopted into such a great home, have loving parents, good food to eat (thanks Daddy for filling my belly everyday), and lots of toys to play with.  I am also thankful for the Cleveland APL for taking such good care of me before I was adopted, without your assistance, I may not have made it to where I am today.  Being able to wake up every day in such a good home makes this puppy very thankful.

Hugs & wet puppy kisses to you,

One thankful puppy

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Watching the Birdies

It’s Thursday morning, and today is just like any other typical day.  I get up with Daddy, I get breakfast, I take a drink of fresh cold bottled water, and I go outside.  One thing you know for sure is, that it’s really cold outside if your No. 2 starts to “steam” in the crisp morning air.  Brrrr.    Daddy gets ready for work, and I give him wet puppy kisses goodbye and wag my tail like a helicopter taking off, then it’s off to the front window to wave goodbye as he backs out of the driveway.  Then like I usually do, I jump on the gate by the back door to alert Mommy that I have to go out… again.  I run out the back door to the nearest patch of grass I find in the backyard to relieve myself… again.  (man, puppies have to go alot don’t they!?)  Of course, while I am outside, I have to sniff “

Sitting in the Light

everything” to make sure that nothing has changed in the backyard since the last time I was out here, and I find myself sitting in front of the bird feeder, watiting for the birdies.  I don’t bark at them, I just sit there watching them.  They swoop in over my head and steal a piece of sunflower seed from the feeder and fly over my head with their beaks full as I watch them.  (I think they do that on purpose to tease me)  Then, it’s back into the house we go, only to find that “light” shining on the kitchen floor again – rats, I think I see that “shadow dog” again, he keeps following me!  Mommy snapped a few new photographs of me sitting in the light.  I love that light, it’s warm on my face, but I just can’t seem to bite it, believe me, I’ve tried.

See you all in a little bit, I still have a full day ahead of me!  Until Later, Nikita

I Love Helping Daddy!

Love Helping Daddy Empty his Lunch Bag

Hi Everyone, it me again, Nikita!  I just love waiting for my Daddy to come home from work every night, but I also love helping him with his lunch bag!  Here I am all wrapped up in his lunch bag strap while Mommy takes out all of the Tupperware.

Rats, Mommy got all of the leftovers out already!

I’ve just gotta help Daddy when he comes home because I wait for him every day and I listen now for his car to pull into the driveway to see him.  Boy oh boy do I give him a great big welcome when he comes home – I wiggle around and jump when I see my Daddy!

What's this thing called a Zipper?

I also just found out what a laundry basket is.  I see Mommy with this thing every day and I had to check it out.  Great… something new to chew on!  It was turned on its side, but when I tried to walk into it, it trapped me!  Oh nooooo, now what?  How do I get out of this thing?  Mommmmmmy, help!  Not sure I want to play with this thing I can’t get out of, but I could chew my way out if I had to, ya know!

I heard that Mommy was going to bring me into Daddy’s office one day to see everyone!  That will be fun because I can see Daddy again!  I hope Mommy brings some of my treats with her so I can show every how I can sit & shake!

Well, gotta go for now, I hear Mommy calling…
Until Tomorrow,

The Laundry Basket Trap!
