Our First Snowfall of the Season

We knew it was going to happen, sooner or later, but we got our first snowfall of the Season yesterday.  We had mixed feelings of whether we were glad to see the beautiful fluffy snowflakes falling so daintily covering everything in a white powder. I think we are just not quite ready to head on into Winter, but we can do nothing about that. It’s going to come whether we want it to or not.

FIRST SNOWFALL 11-13-14

The photo above was just the start of the snow, as you can see the ground was not yet covered, but we ended up getting about 4 inches by morning. (I love how the snowflakes look in the photo with the flash on my camera!) Nikita and Bella of course, loved the arrival of the snow and immediately did zoomies in the yard!

Last weekend, we got the Christmas lights on the house and the decorations out in the yard, as this was our last chance with a semi warm day to do so before the cold temps hit us. Boy are we glad that we did, because it is just way too cold out now to decorate. I have also been under the weather for a few weeks now with a nasty chest congestion, and I did my best at helping get the decorations outside. (these chest congestions hang on forever which stinks!)

11-13-14 FIRST SNOWFALL OF SEASON

Here’s a photo of our Christmas decorations in the snow last night! Boy are we glad we got them all up! It has been snowing here since yesterday and it has not stopped. Nothing makes outside Christmas decorations look so beautiful when they are covered up with white fluffy snowflakes.

How much snow did you get in your area?

Deck the Halls or Your Neighborhood

Christmas is the perfect time to reflect back, to share love with friends and family and to enjoy the holiday spirit.  Christmas is not always about the gifts, rather it’s about being together with your loved ones.  Let’s face it, we all have busy lives, the hustle and bustle of our hectic work weeks, and the holidays always brings us together for some good food, laughter, and at the end of the evening, you’ll always find the men folk in front of the fire napping and the girls chatting in the kitchen.  Ah, Christmas, memories that will always last.

My Mommy always makes sure that the presents look so beautiful, and it’s a shame when we have to rip into them, but we do.  She designs all of the gift tags herself, and makes sure that each present is adorned with a beautiful bow.  Mommy’s are good at things like that, and I am so thankful for my Mommy.  We can’t wait for Daddy to see what we got him!  He is so special to us and loves us with all his heart!

Christmas is special too for all of the decorations and lights that twinkle in the night.  Mommy took a walk around the neighborhood and got some great photographs of the spirit of Christmas that our neighbors have that light up so beautifully in the cold dark nights.  From lighted dogs, reindeer and snowmen all show signs of the holiday spirit in our neighborhood. (You can even see me looking out the window too!)

I even got a great surprise that my Daddy brought home for me.  My Auntie Rene got me a gift for Christmas!  I have not opened it yet, but I can’t wait to see what she got me.  Thanks so much Auntie Rene for thinking of me at Christmas!

There’s not too many days left until Christmas, and we hope that you have the best Christmas ever.  Just remember, Christmas is not about the gifts or how many you get, it’s all about the love and being with the ones you love and making memories to last a lifetime.  Get into the spirit of the holidays and pick up the phone and reach out to someone this holiday season.  You’ll be happy you did!

I also can’t wait because my Daddy will be on vacation soon so we’ll get to spend a lot of time together playing!  And, we are going to head back down to the Cleveland APL for a visit with all of our friends when Daddy is on vacation.  So, all of you at the APL – – get ready for another visit from me!  I’m coming to see you!

LIFE IS GOOD

LIFE IS GOOD…IN A LOVING HOME!   After the last post, it got me thinking.  Every dog should be in a loving home – period.   Every dog should be able to wake up every day and receive love & affection, be able to have a happy heart and that happiness will shine through their personality.  As for me, I am one HAPPY puppy, and have the best life ever.  I am loved every minute of my day, get to stay home with Mommy who looks after me, wipes my paws when it’s wet outside, brushes me every day to keep my fur looking fly, and have the best Daddy ever who makes sure that I have good healthy food to eat every day, and a never-ending supply of toys to play with, and every night when it’s time for bed, I have a special place to snuggle with Daddy & Mommy that makes me feel secure & safe.   Every dog should be able to experience this love that fills my heart every day, every dog should be this lucky.

I get to sit by Daddy & Mommy when they try to kick butt playing Wii Life or Monopoly, and last night I actually kicked Mommy off the couch so I could snuggle with Daddy.  (sorry Mommy)  This is what I am saying on how Life is Good, time spent with the ones you love, as it does not matter what you are doing, but being with them is special.  By the way, Daddy won last night in the Game of Life, way to go Daddy as he kicked the computer players butts & Mommy’s too! LOL   Don’t get too excited as Mommy is ready for a rematch!

We started our Christmas decorating last Friday, and the house looks so wonderful.  I love this time of year, as all the lights and decorations make you smile & gets you in such a great mood.  Now, we just have to pull out the Christmas music and we can dance all around the house!  “It’s the most wonderful time of the year” – sing along, we know you want to!   Mommy loves photography with a passion, and enjoys taking neat photo’s.  Here is one she took of herself last night in the reflection of a Christmas bulb, neat eh?   She even got a neat one last year of the Christmas tree reflection in Daddy’s glass of wine.  Only a photographer would notice something like that, and then they run for their camera to capture it!

Daddy even got me a neat ornament for the tree.  I know it does not exactly look like me, but it was the closest one we could find.  It looks really nice on the tree though, woof!   We are still working on the LED lights for the outside bushes, and we’re almost done but we will definitely take some photographs of it.

By the way, before I forget to remind you again, if you have not yet signed up for ebates through the link we provided you a few posts ago…. go find that blog post and copy the link we provided and paste it in your browser, then it will take you to the sign up page.  The reason we keep reminding you about eBates is because the holiday online shopping time is here and you can earn cash back for shopping online, and who would not want to get a little back for shopping, eh?  We just got another check yesterday, so this should be an incentive for you to sign up, and it’s free to sign up too!

I hope that you have started your holiday decorating too, and are enjoying the ones you love.  Life is too short, tell them you love them & show them every day!

11-11-11 The First White Stuff

WOW, it happened last night while we slept…we got our first snowfall!  We awoke this morning to snow on the ground and what a shock that was.  I remember our first snow last year that arrived around Thanksgiving, but that snowfall was a lot more severe and covered everything.  As for today’s snow, I did not have any in the driveway to pee in, bummer!

2010 Snow Puppy

I know that Mommy is really thankful that yesterday she worked for hours putting the LED Christmas Lights on the gutters and the bushes, so when she awoke this morning, she went “phew”, glad she did that yesterday.  She also went around the yard and winterized some last minute items, like draining the water from the hose out back and putting that away and pulling out the lights from our flower beds and remembering to shut off the water knob inside the house too.  (some people forget to do this and might leave their hose out all winter, but that could split your garden hose and you don’t want that!)

Now, since there is snow on the ground, it got us in the mood to bring out of storage all of our Christmas decorations, so Mommy and I will be busy unpacking everything today and putting our little lights in all the windows, hanging the wreath on the front door, and hanging our stockings.  Speaking of stockings, Daddy got us this really neat metal stocking holder from Current Catalog.  We wanted to get this last year, but they sold out so quickly, so we ordered ours early so we would ensure we would get one.  It is the neatest stocking holder we have ever seen, so if you want one for yourself – I would order one today here:  http://www.currentcatalog.com/602849.html?AS=1&keyword=metal+stocking+holder

Other than decorating, not sure what else is on the agenda for today, except some naps and perhaps help Mommy bake some cookies.  She will be sharing with you in another post her Mom’s Pumpkin Bar recipe with homemade cream cheese frosting, so keep an eye out for that recipe as it is truly yummy.

Stay warm & bundle up!
Love, Nikita
