Pledge For Pets Fundraiser Results

The 9th annual Pledge For Pets Fundraiser was held this past Friday & Saturday at the APL and it was all about the animals!  The grand total that the APL raised for their event was $84,518.33, and Nikitaland’s total fundraising amount was $1,175 !  Thank you again for those of you who helped us raise this much needed money to help those animals in need and we hope that they all can find their “forever homes”.

When we first arrived at the APL, I needed to turn in all the checks and cash that I raised offline, so Nikita and I headed into the Cash Room. From the second we entered, Nikita got tons of hugs from the volunteers at the APL, and lots of belly rubs too! As you can see, Nikita is not shy from asking for belly rubs!

Glenn Anderson from Q104 just loves our dogs and he always makes sure that he poses for a photo with us!

Bella was a little shy at first, because there were just so many people at the APL, but she quickly warmed up to everyone and won their hearts over.  I can’t tell you how many people approached us and asked if our dogs were up for adoption! What?!  It did not surprise me that they asked this, because the APL had lots of other dogs walking around that were up for adoption and I guess Nikita and Bella just blended in. No way would we ever give up our beautiful girls to anyone!

Bella took a pee break outside and strikes a pose!

Nikita met another new friend named Katie.

Our local radio station, Q104, was at the APL hosting the event and as always, they did a super job in broadcasting the event and getting the word out about the importance of how your donation impacts an animals life. Alan Fee, Glenn Anderson, and a newbie intern always make this event so enjoyable.  They even got the intern to sit inside a dog cage to help collect “cage sponsors” and I even walked over and gave the intern a doggie treat while she was in the cage.

After we spent a few hours watching the live radio show, it was time to head home. We knew the dogs had enough and were tired, so we packed up our things and journeyed home.  We knew the dogs would pass out when they got home.  When we got into the car, Bella decided that she wanted to drive home.  Nikita took a nap in the back seat.

We are so proud to be a part of this event every year, as it means so much to us, and we are so thankful for everyone who helped us raise the much needed donations to help the animals find love, happiness, wellness, and a forever home.

We hope to see your continued support next year! Hugs from all of us at Nikitaland!

Say “Cheese!”

P.S. – FYI, Saturday, May 3rd was also our five year anniversary too!

PLEDGE FOR PETS: There’s only a few days left to donate!

Main-Radiothon-Page-1024x614Five, four, three, two, one…are the days left for the Pledge For Pets Fundraiser as it is in its final days. If you truly care what happens to abused and abandoned animals that are left out on the streets to fend for theirself, then this fundraiser is for you. Friday May 2nd and Saturday May 3rd are the dates for the live radiothon fundraiser, so you don’t have much time left!

The Animal Protective League takes in anywhere from 14,000 to 17,000 animals in a years time through their doors, and they help each and every one of them. No animal is turned away, and they stay at the APL until they find their “forever home”.  The APL has been helping animals for more than 100 years, and we know firsthand the good works they do!

Please consider making a donation today and giving yourself the best gift of all – – – the satisfaction of knowing you helped save an animals life!

Thank You!

Pledge For Pets Fundraiser – 10 Days Left to Donate

Fundraising for a good cause is never easy, but it is worth it. You spend lots of time telling your story over and over again to everyone you meet. You tell them that all donations, no matter the dollar amount, DOES make a difference. It makes all the difference in the world to help save an animal who is suffering. No animal should ever have to endure abuse, neglect, and sorrow by any means. For some of the animals who arrive at the APL, it is the only human kindness that they have ever known.

The Pledge For Pets Fundraiser has approximately 10 days left to collect online donations. We are so proud that this is our fourth year participating in this fundraising event for the APL, as we truly know that all of our efforts do make a huge difference for the animals welfare and helping them find their “forever homes”.

We also want to thank those of you who have already made a donation and wanted to help change an animals life and give them a chance for a happy future. Your generosity is much appreciated! Listed below are our supporters:

What Would You Give Up To Save An Animals Life?

All of us at Nikitaland take the welfare of animals very seriously. We cry when we watch the commercials on TV of all the abused and neglected animals in the world. We want to help. We want every animal to find a forever home & happiness that they deserve.

Please consider helping us today & make a donation to help change an animals life today.  Click HERE to make a donation!

To date, we have raised a total of $2,375 for the Animal Protective League and we could not be happier!  Each and every year we have collected more than the last year, as you can see from the graph above, and we are so glad to give back to the community to help those animals in need. We are doing our part to help, and we hope you can help too!

Without YOUR GENEROSITY we could have not made this possible! For the cost of a coffee at Starbucks, you could donate that money to helping the animals who need us. Each and every donation adds up, no matter how much you donate. Every donation helps feed the animals, it provides them with the medical care they need to heal from their abuse, it helps pay for the electricity to keep them warm at night, and in the end, it helps them to have the hopes that someone will walk in and rescue them today and give them a home to go home to.

Would you give up your Starbucks coffee today if you knew you could help save an animals life?

We Need Your Generosity

PledgeForPetsRadiothon_SquareLogo-1024x1003Not a day has gone past that I am not working continuously on collecting donations for the 2014 Pledge For Pets Fundraiser since March 1st.

I email everyone in my contact list to update them on my progress and the total donations that have been collected. I stop people driving past our house and give them a donation slip with instructions on how to donate. I have placed many phone calls to organizations in our community. Every UPS or FedEx truck that passes our house, I talk to them too, and even the garbage man and I had a great conversation this week. To date, we have collected $845!

This is what one does when they are collecting donations for something that they truly believe in. Something that DOES make a difference. Something that I am passionate about. And in the end, what we get are happy animals who get the help they need, they get saved from a horrible life on the streets, a life of abuse & neglect, and they find the happiness that perhaps they never knew existed. These animals find a “forever home”. A place where someone gives them love and attention that every animal should have each and every day.

We would appreciate it a bunch too, if you can share our donation link with your friends, on FB, and anyone who is an animal lover, as we need your help to spread the word about this fundraiser!

It Was All About The Animals!

It was a cold day in May when we headed down to the Cleveland APL on Saturday.  The 8th annual Pledge For Pets Radiothon was in its second & final day of the live show, and we were excited to once again be a part of this event.

Nikita and Bella accompanied us, of course, and when Nikita made her entrance into the room where the live show was, she ran immediately over to the volunteers taking phone donations.  Everybody loved her and knows her at the APL.  “Oh, she is so soft” was the most used phrase we heard as Nikita passed out kissies to everyone she met.  She also passed out her blog cards too, so we hope that everyone stops by and says hello!

Our local radio station, Q104, hosted this event, as they do every year.  They volunteer their time for such a worthy cause!  The radio personalities are so nice, warm, and loving and we always can’t wait to see them again.  Nikita especially loves Glen Anderson, as he always makes time to give Nikita a big hug!  Katherine Boyd and Allan Fee are always a pleasure to see and we love their great big hearts!

The Radiothon Room was filled with excitement, from people clapping to lots of “yahoo’s” when a donation came through the phone lines.  It is something to cheer about as the money goes towards such a great cause. Helping animals.

There were 31 Cash Captains, us included, who helped raise money for the APL.  Overall, the Cash Captains raised a total of $9,910 with online donations, cash & checks that they collected.  Nikitaland, raised a total of $705 and we are so pleased to be a part of this worthwhile & worthy cause.  The grand total that the APL raised with this event was $123,610.  And, if you were not aware of this, it costs the APL approximately $10,000/day to run its non-profit organization!  That is why we encouraged everyone to take part of this event, as it helps saves lives.  If you still wanted to donate, there is still time to do so.  Click HERE to make a donation as our donation page is still active & accepting donations!

All of us at Nikitaland want to thank everyone who participated with us in this event as we appreciate all of your donations.  Also, if you had uploaded one of our yellow pledge buttons on your blog, you can remove it today.  See you next year!

You can also LISTEN along as well!

There is still time for you to make a donation today!  If you would like to make a donation, click HERE.  Any dollar amount helps, as it all adds up for a good cause!  This is your LAST CHANCE to make a donation!  You don’t have to live in Ohio to make a donation either, but if you love animals, your donation matters, no matter where you live!

We will be posting photographs of the live event upon our return, so stay tuned.  Thank you so much from all of us at Nikitaland for your generosity!

PLEDGE FOR PETS – Now is the time to donate

Pledge For Pets 4

It has been three months now that we have been collecting donations for the 8th annual Pledge For Pets Fundraiser for the APL and the LIVE radiothon starts tomorrow!

Roy and I are so pleased to be a part of this worthy cause and enjoy giving back to the community and helping animals who need our assistance.  To date, we have collected $705 from 25 people who love animals & wanted to help the APL continue on with their good works.  Even our substitute mailman the other day donated $10 in cash.  Imagine that…a postal carrier who loves dogs!

If you are reading this post, this message is for YOU!  We need your help and we need it now, today!  Since the live radiothon is starting tomorrow (Friday & Saturday live at the APL) we need to gather more donations and this will be our last ditch effort to reach out to everyone.  A donation does not have to be large.  Even $5 helps the animals, not to mention, if you give $5, and someone else gives $5, it all ADDS UP.

Seriously, if you are reading this, please find it in your heart to make a donation today.  We know that we are sad when we see a stray running around the neighborhood who has no food or shelter.  They need your help. Too many times we watch the news and hear horrible stories of animals being tied up to fences to be left for dead, or abused dogs that have collars embedded into their skin because of neglect.  It makes you cringe.  It makes you want to help.  This is how you can help.  Your donations go towards their food, shelter, surgeries if needed, and much more.

Your donations do matter & they do make a difference!  Choose to donate today.

After the live radiothon has concluded on Saturday, we will post photographs of the live event and we’ll be sending out a great big thank you to everyone who has helped us raise money for the APL and this worthy cause.  Thank you again, for choosing to help us as your generosity is much appreciated.

And, don’t forget, your donation is tax deductible too, so printout your receipt!  If you are making a donation today from your blog, make sure to include your blogs name when donating!

Thank you ever so much!
Roy, Valerie, Nikita & Bella (our awesome four-legged furry children)

UPDATE On Pledge For Pets Fundraiser

We are so pleased on our progress for collecting donations for the 8th annual Pledge For Pets Fundraiser for the APL.  This is our third year participating in this event and are so happy to help the APL and give back to the community for such a great worthy cause.

To date, we have raised a total of $1,315 for the APL in three years.  Our first year we did not know much about fundraising, but now that we are seasoned Q-Cash Captains, and we know that collecting donations is not an easy task.  We get strange looks from people when we approach them, as they are probably wondering “who are you?”, but we explain the reason why we are helping the APL collect donations.

  • We have seen firsthand the good works from the APL
  • We have rescued two beautiful dogs from the APL
  • We gave those two dogs a beautiful & loving forever home
  • Without the APL’s help in the community, there would be neglected and abused animals all over the city
  • Once the APL rescues an animal, it stays with them until they get adopted
  • The APL staff are wonderful people who care about the health and welfare of animals
  • People ask us if their donation even makes a difference & the answer is a definite “YES”

In 2011, we collected $170, 2012 we collected $570, and currently in 2013 we have collected $575.  Our goal this year is to reach $1,000 in donations, but we cannot reach our goal without YOUR HELP.  We urge you to consider making a donation today, which is tax deductible, and help us reach our goal this year.  We get nothing from our efforts, except the satisfaction of knowing that we did our part and helped some animals along the way to find their forever home.

YOUR donation does make a difference, no matter how much you can afford to donate, as it all adds up.  Click HERE to make a donation today to the APL.  Not only do we appreciate your help, but the animals who need our help are the ones who benefit from your generosity.

Faces of the Abandoned

Every day we watch the news.  Some days I sit there watching in shock.  I really can’t remember a news post any more lately that does not put that look of shock and awe on my face.  Murders, stabbings, abductions of kids, and the horrible abuse and neglect of animals.

I know that I can’t change the world and make it all better, as we live a nice quiet simple life.  But, we do our part, every year and join in to raise donations for the APL who help more than 17,000 animals a year.  No matter what condition the animal is in when it is brought in, the APL does not turn them away.  Some times I wonder how hard it is for the employees at the APL to see this kind of neglect, day in and day out, it has to be hard.  Some days they arrive to work only to find a box taped shut with kittens or puppies in the box.  No food.  No water.  Just a box sitting there, waiting for someone to find it.  I give them credit.  A whole lot of it.

We wish we could do more for all of these animals, but as everyone is probably in the same boat, living a simple quiet life, we know it is hard to give to all the charities in the world.  But, if everyone who is reading this today, we encourage you to make a donation, even if it is a small one for the APL, because if everyone who loves what we are trying to do, your donations will all add up into something wonderful for these animals.  They will receive the care that they need, they will have food to eat, electricity to keep them warm, all in the hopes that one day, they find their forever home.

We know what Nikita and Bella went through before we rescued them, and it was not a pretty sight.  So if you can find it in your heart to help us raise donations for the APL, not only will we be super happy, but we all will be happy that we helped an animal in need.  We get them one step closer to happiness, because they all deserve to be in a happy home.  They deserve to be with people who will love them, play with them, and when they close their eyes at night, know that they will never have to go through those perils ever again.  Nikita and Bella are pure examples of happy dogs who got their chance from the help at the APL.

Think about making a donation today, as your donation DOES make a huge difference in an animals life!  CLICK HERE TO DONATE!
