Festivus Snow Days

It comes as no surprise that we got snow, and LOTS of it!  We watched it come down the entire day yesterday with such vengence.  Definitely over 6″ for sure hit our town.  It was pretty to watch as we sat in a warm house drinking our warm coffee, but having to clean off your drive and sidewalk was a different story.

It was that thick heavy snow that blanketed everything. Tree branches were heavily covered in thick white snow, even a deer we saw had snow piled up on its head while he stood in our neighbors backyard eating his bushes.

Let it Snow

Our neighbors had a lot of fun in the snow with friends building snowmen across the street.  It was fun to watch as they rolled the snow balls around the ground creating the perfect snowman body parts.  One after the other, they built three snowmen and even a snow turtle!

One snowman, or snow woman, was built with anatomical parts! And she was even a smoker with a cigarette hanging out the side of her snow face! (gotta love snow humor, eh!)

We had our neighbors over for pizza the other night, before all the snow hit us, and we dined at the table adorned in red & gold. Who said eating pizza can’t be fancy?

After dinner, we took a ride to see a holiday light show.  We just love how this guy decorates his house and yard with lights!  When you sit in front of his house, you turn your radio to a certain frequency and listen to Christmas music as you watch his light show!  It is a spectacular light show to watch!

Here is the link to his light show from last year: http://vimeo.com/57824434

Nikita got a new sweater too when Bella got hers, but it is not as easy as Bella’s was to put on, but she loves it!  It definitely makes it easier to dry her off when she comes in from playing in all the snow.  The sweater provides warmth, and a good shield from snow balls in her fur.

The pictures of Nikita (above) are before all of the snow hit us.  Now, the backyard is piled high with the white stuff.  Snow forts were built so they could have a shoveled off area to potty in, and the snow is packed down into the ground from all of our trips outside.

After all the playing was done for the day, Nikita took advantage of her quiet time and napped with her favorite teddy bear.

What a week we had with all the snow and excitement!  As the snow is still coming down, we can take a little break for now as the driveway is finally all cleared again, until we have to head back out and do it all over again.  Just think, Winter has not even officially begun yet!

  1. Winter, ugh! If you can’t beat it, join it, HA. Looks like the whole neighbourhood is full of fun folk. Lucky you. That’s a cute blanket that Nikita is napping on, did you make it? We’ve had 4 days in a row of 0 C 32F, I’m surprised at how much snow melted but it’s cold again today. Just the beginning I’m sure.

    • That blankie that Nikita is napping on, my Mom made years ago. Our weather has stunk here too, and has snowed almost every day since Saturday! Ug. And, winter has not even officially begun yet.

    • We are for sure having fun over here! We got MORE snow over night and had to pull out the shovel again! Our snow piles are getting really high right now and Winter has not even officially started yet. I love Nikita’s new sweater too! She looks so cute in it!

  2. Loved all the brilliant colors (and the snow woman with all her parts). 🙂
I love the picture of the deer. Great shot with the snow on her head. What a greta xmas card that would make. You make winter look so much fun. I have to admit I have a new appreciation of it since I had the chance to enjoy it as a pet sitter.

    • That is so cute that you said that you loved the deer photo and that it would make a great Christmas card! Our neighbor (whos bushes the deer are eating) said the same thing. I thought it was funny too that the deer had all that snow on her head! You have to enjoy the winter the best you can! We just can’t believe we got so much snow this weekend, and we’re supposed to get a few more inches tonight too! Phew!

    • I found Nikita’s striped sweater at KMart! They don’t have lots of sweaters there, but I actually found one large enough for our sweet girl! Bella’s red wooly jacket was from KMart too! Isn’t that photo of Nikita sitting in the snow so adorable? I love that photo! Did you like the new header too that I made? I smile every time I see it!

      • I might have to go to KMart tomorrow to look. The new header is wonderful! It made me smile when I saw it too. I love how they’re gazing out into the world together! The same with Nikita’s picture. That pose is one of my favorites.

      • What size of sweater does Zu wear? On the sweater that I got Nikita, this is what it states for their sizing chart: SMALL – 12 – 13″, MEDIUM – 14 – 15″, LARGE – 17 – 19″, X-LARGE – 19 – 21″, and XX-LARGE – 24 – 27″, measuring from the base of the neck to base of the tail. (Nikita is wearing the XXL) That photo of Nikita and Bella was one I took of them looking out the front door. I used my photo editor to cut the background out!

      • She usually wears an XL. The tag always says she should fit into a L but I think because of her fluffy fur the XL fits better.

      • It did! Apparently Wayne got the mail the other day and forgot to tell me. It’s been sitting under a magazine this whole time! Thank you so much for the blog cards, you are too sweet to make those! I love, love, love them 🙂

    • Oh Roxy, the snow kept falling the entire day on Saturday! It was neat to watch from inside the warm house, but outside was a different story. Lots of work we did cleaning off the driveway! Nikita and Bella LOVED it though, as they love jumping around in it! We found Nikita’s sweater at KMart!

  3. I love your sweater Nikita, it looks as colorful as the christmas lights. And I’m a fan of snowpeople, it’s a funny memory of my childhood, but we were just silly kids and forgot the special body parts :o) (and sadly the cigarettes LOL)

    • I love my new sweater too, and how bright and colorful it is! You can sure see me in all the snow we have! Our neighbors were having so much fun playing in the snow! I just had to run out and snap a photograph of them! 🙂
